Our lives are moving faster and faster with not much down time for us to re-energize to be well and to be focused on what really matters in our lives. With this fast moving energy, it is essential to be grounded and have clarity on what is important in your life. Otherwise, this energy will take you for a wild ride leaving you drained and spinning. You want to be able to dance with this energy to gain insight and awareness. If you are overwhelmed, there is no dance.
This energy triggers emotions and feelings to get you to examine your life to see if what you are doing is working for you. This part is powerful and productive. However, if you move into emotionality, drama, and story, you become exhausted and confused. What is the difference between story and fact? This amazes me as I continue to be aware of my actions and choices on a daily basis. I did not realize that telling myself what appeared to be simple explanations for events in my day were initiating the spin process. As I added to these during the day, the spin picked up momentum until midafternoon I would all of a sudden feel drained. Let me share some examples of stories you may tell yourself Read the rest of this entry »
Have you ever experienced a sudden shift in energy from your day being amazing, productive, and fun to all of a sudden where you want to scream at the world or crawl into a hole and disappear for a day? Everything is energy. You have energy coming at you 24/7. If you are not guarded against unexpected waves of negative energy, you can be taken out in an instant. If you find yourself in this kind of situation, it is best to shift your energy quickly otherwise you end up spiraling down into a draining, negative, the world is against me attitude. Below are 4 ways to shift your energy when you find yourself starting to spiral.
1. Change your environment. If you are sitting at your computer, get up and go for a walk. If you are in a business meeting, excuse yourself and leave the room for a while. If you are inside, walk outside to get some fresh air. Move to shift your energy and to get out of the negative energy.
2. Engage in an athletic activity to shift your energy at the core of your body. Bicycle, run, walk, swim, dance.
3. Breathe. Look at the facts. Get out of story. Stay out of emotionality and drama.
4. List what you have in your life to be grateful for. Shift the energy to what is good in your life.
Energy can either inspire and energize you or drain you and tire you out. Look at the people in your life and the environments where you spend most of your time. If you are surrounded by negative people and spend time in heavy, life draining environments, consider how much time you spend with these people and in these environments. A change in friends and work environment might be critical for your wellness and enjoyment of life. Making choices to lessen your exposure to negativity makes a huge difference. However, it is a huge world, and you cannot shield yourself totally from negative energy.

We so often look outside of ourselves for joy, approval, and love. Looking for someone else to make us feel worthy turns into an endless, draining, competitive journey. It is up to each of us to approve of ourselves, to love ourselves, and to find joy. We have been taught by marketing that anything outside of us will be the answer to all of our unhappiness and discontent. We come to a point in our lives where we realize that even with all of our degrees, titles, homes, cars, travels, and money, we still feel empty. At this point, we can buy more or chose to look within to fill our own emptiness with loving who we are and pursuing what really matters in life to us independent of what others may have to say.
Here are ten fun, simple things to engage in to start your journey to finding the joy, peace, and happiness that is within you. Read the rest of this entry »
As the winds dance around my home, they call to me to accept their invitation to move unencumbered with them. I envision myself hanging onto the tail of the wind spirit flying freely through the air laughing joyously as I experience freedom of movement. As I hang on, we weave through the bare tree branches and over and around tall buildings. We churn up the waves on water, transform raindrops into snowflakes, and prompt people to turn their backs to us. As our adventure comes to an end, the wind spirit gently sets me down. She caresses my face as she leaves me to ponder the treasures of our dance.
The teachings become apparent as I contemplate change once again in my life. I hear the wind spirit telling me to go with the flow, to stay in the moment, and to enjoy the process of life as it unfolds again and again and again. Just as the winds keep dancing over Grandmother Earth; change is our life partner on our journey. We do not experience transformation once in a lifetime, but many times.
